Treasure Valley Cotillion (Now Enrolling)

..is a progressive program held at the Banbury Country Club in season December - March. The theme parties highlight your students’ busy social calendars. Each time the students meet they are provided an opportunity to use proper introduction skills, handshakes, meeting, greeting and social skills. There are no pre-requisites for any of the classes. Your student may join at any level with no previous experience. We rotate dances each year to keep the program fresh for our  many returning students.

NEW this Year! Due to popular demand, we are now offering an optional two hour dining skills class including a four course formal dinner in November before the start of our regular season. The sessions will be held before Thanksgiving so your student can have a refresher course or learn these new skills for the Holidays!

The schedule for the 2011/2012 Treasure Valley Cottillion season is Thursday evenings:
December 1st- Inaugural Dance and Open House 
January 12th & 26th
February 9th & 23rd 
Saturday, March 3rd – Cotillion Ball.
Registration is $25, Tuition for TVC is $200.

The schedule for the optional dining skills and formal dinner is:
Social I & II – Tuesday, November 1st 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Social II (8th Grade) & Dance Club– Tuesday, November 8th 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Registration and Tuition for TVC with Dining Skills is $250 (only $25 more than the regular program and that includes a formal dinner for your student WITH instruction!) Special pricing available until October 21st. Registration and Tuition is $275 from October 22 - 29. Sorry, we cannot take any students for this option after October 29th.

Treasure Valley Cotillion Curriculum

Social I (5:45 – 6:45 PM) Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grades.

Our beginning class is especially designed for fourth, fifth and sixth grade ladies and gentlemen.
Mature sixth grade students may opt for Social II.
The class divides the instruction between social education and dance education. A special emphasis is placed on laying a foundation of good manners. Role playing exercises are used as fun and informative tools to give students opportunities to learn and practice.

The social education includes:
  • Self-esteem and confidence building
  • Handshakes
  • Meeting and Introductions
  • Etiquette of Public Places
  • Conversation skills
The dance education includes:
  • East Coast Swing
  • Basic Fox Trot or
  • Basic Waltz

Social II (7:00 –8:00 PM) Mature Sixth*, Seventh and Eighth Grades

This class is designed for mature sixth*, seventh and eighth grade ladies and gentlemen.
*If your child is a less mature sixth grade student, please opt for Social I. This class divides the curriculum between social education and dance education. A special emphasis is placed on laying a foundation of good manners and leadership skills. Fun and informative role-playing exercises help to reinforce the confidence-building program.

Courtesy, respect, and confidence in party situations is becoming very important to this age group.

Social education instruction includes:

  • Formal Introductions
  • Receiving Invitations
  • Escorting and Seating
  • The Buffet Line
  • Etiquette at School Dances
The dance education portion of this class includes a review of the basics for new students and:
  • Basics + Additional Steps to the Fox Trot or Waltz
  • Additional Steps to the Swing
  • Introduction to the Rumba

Dance Club (8:15 – 9:30 PM) High School

As you enjoy your high school career and start thinking about a college it will be important for you to be familiar with the subject matter covered in this class. The program we have designed is geared toward enriching your interpersonal skills which will enhance your image as you choose to further your education or land your first job.

Our high school Dance Club class gives you the opportunity to practice social etiquette with your peers in a fun atmosphere.

Other skills taught in this high school class include:

  • Proper introductions, Correct handshakes
  • Conversation skills, Common courtesies
  • Escorting and seating
  • The Buffet Line
  • Dance Floor Protocol
  • Reception protocol
  • Social Dance and Prom Etiquette
  • Host/Hostess and guest duties

The dance education includes a selection of:

  • Fox Trot
  • Waltz
  • Swing
  • Rumba
  • Cha – Cha
  • Introduction to Tango

Participants in Cotillion Club know the importance of upgrading and learning skills that will establish positive lifelong habits.
